The 100th anniversary of the BSA is only four years
away. The excitement of celebrating a century of fun and adventure,
citizenship, patriotism, and good character is truly an opportunity for
America to salute the Boy Scouts of America. Several criteria changes have
been made in 2006 for Quality Unit Awards. The Quality award program for the
years 2007 through 2010 will be changed to the Centennial Quality Award
and will not be connected to the rechartering process for units. All
requirements will be completed on a calendar year basis. The Centennial Quality Award program is an opportunity to salute those who truly deliver exceptional programs to youth members at all levels of the BSA organization. The primary focus of this award program is "To improve the Quality of program in every unit in America!" Objective No. 6 of The Quality Unit Award for troops and teams, and No. 7 for packs and crews now reads: "Service project. [Our Unit] will conduct an annual service project, preferably for the chartered organization or the community. Units and individuals should report their projects on the 'Good Turn for America' web site." The new Quality Unit Award applications will be sent to units soon. These applications (along with additional information) may also be downloaded from the national BSA website:
